Portland, Oregon
Video production in Portland, Oregon.
In Fair Light is a video, motion and brand studio in Portland, Oregon, run by creative director Alexandre Chaput. It works with founder-led companies here and remotely, and it is deliberately small.

The studio
Who is In Fair Light?
A studio, not an agency. It is Alexandre Chaput, who has spent more than twenty years in broadcast, live entertainment and brand work, plus a longtime collaborator and specialists brought in per project. There is no office you can visit and no storefront; work happens at client sites, on location around the city, and remotely.
That is normal for this kind of studio, and it is worth saying plainly rather than implying a building that does not exist.

Working together
What does that mean for a Portland client?
You are talking to the person doing the work. The person on the first call is the person directing, editing and grading it. And you can meet, which matters because the useful part of a first conversation is usually the twenty minutes of context that never makes it into a brief.
Nothing gets handed down a chain, and nothing gets explained twice. For a small company that is the difference between a project that stays on point and one that drifts through three people before anyone opens an edit.
What kind of work does it do?
Brand films, product explainers, motion identity, and brand and design systems. Portland has a lot of companies selling something invisible: software, infrastructure, services that only make sense once you have watched them work. That is the work this studio is built for.
It also does the unglamorous versions. If what you need is one good film rather than a campaign, that is a legitimate project and we would rather scope it honestly than pad it.
Do you only work with Portland companies?
No. The studio works remotely as a matter of course and has clients in Québec, where Alex is from and where he works in French. Being in Portland is where he lives and where he would rather meet you, not a limit on who he works with.
How do you start?
Email alex@infairlight.com with what you are making, who it is for and roughly when it needs to exist. The first conversation costs nothing and has no tools in it. If the answer is that you do not need a video, you will be told that.
Straight answers
Will it look like obvious AI?
That fear is most of the reason this studio exists. The synthetic look comes from letting the tool make the decisions. Here, every frame that survives is one a person chose, regraded and cut on purpose. If a shot looks fake, it does not ship. Some projects have no generated material in them at all, and we will tell you which kind yours should be before we start.
Is In Fair Light just one person?
It is led by one person, with a longtime collaborator and specialists brought in when a project calls for one. That is not a caveat. You are paying for direction and for the edit, not for overhead, and you are talking to the person doing the work.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what the thing actually is, so we scope it on the first call and you have the full number before anything starts. Two revision rounds are included on everything. We will also tell you when a smaller project would do the job, which happens more often than you would expect.
How much of my time will this take?
Very little, and that is deliberate. The first conversation, your feedback once you have seen the visual direction, and two rounds of review. In between we go quiet and build, and you review finished thinking rather than half-finished questions.
Do you work in French?
Yes. Alex is from Québec and works natively in both languages, including scripts, narration and correspondence.
